The Bridge to 2020
Exhibit of Works by Catie Faryl
Medford Library, Now through June 30
Anne Brooke, the founder of Art Presence, curates the quarterly art exhibits at the Medford Public Library. This quarter she has arranged with Art Presence member artist Catie Faryl to show paintings from her collection, The Bridge to 2020 (Note: the images in her online gallery of this collection do not include every piece that will hang in this exhibit). This collection includes watercolor paintings and monotype prints, some which were completed in recent years and some that are brand new and created just for this show.
The Bridge to 2020 art exhibit offers optimistic portrayals of common sense solutions to the environmental issues we face and hopeful information on better outcomes for people, planet and all sentient beings. With thought-provoking pictures of where we are and new paths open to us, West Coast artist Catie Faryl gives inspiration and shares old and new knowledge and ideas we can use to re-balance the relationships we have with resources, the environment and ourselves. The paintings deliver insight into choices and decisions looming in our near future and contemplate ways we can move in an upward spiral via reexamined beliefs, community effort and technologies and practices both ancient and visionary.
The captions to Catie’s paintings and monotypes offer a deeper glimpse into her holistic and compassionate perspective, inviting the viewer into a deeper understanding of the point each piece intends to communicate. One example is the caption for “The Earth Bridge”: Humans be still, make room and care for the elements and all sentient beings.
Catie also arranged for a selection of books to be placed in a book case adjacent to the exhibit so those who are interested may learn more about the topics addressed in the paintings included in The Bridge to 2020. Among the titles she has chosen are:
Frankenstein’s Cat, by Emily Anthes
