Natural Earth Paints

Natural Earth Paints came into being when Leah Fanning Mebane was pregnant with her first child. Concerned that traditionally available oil paints might harm her baby, Leah began to seek alternatives. She started creating non-toxic natural paints with earth pigments she collected herself from local soils and locally sourced walnut oil. Then she experiemented with them in her own studio, creating many fine art oil paintings. After years of R&D, she now offers Earth Paint kits for adults and children, as well as professional grade oils for artists. Visit the website to learn more and browse their growing line of natural, non-toxic paints, kits, and products.

Contact Leah to inquire about wholesale orders. She also offers classes & workshops on making your own earth-based pigments. This interview with the Ashland Locals Guide is an excellent introduction to the company.
