Backroads Studio

A Native American Christmas
Featuring Harriet Greene and Martin Goldman

“Drawn to the West in 1978 I moved into a tiny log cabin in Grand
Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and fell in love with the
wilderness, wildlife, wild flowers, the exciting experience of being
in the high country and Native American culture. Numerous Indian
tribes, Shoshone, Bannock and Snake, amongst others, traveled through
the valley to their hunting grounds in Yellowstone. Being in such
close proximity spurred my interest to their plight and I have
completed a series of marble stonecut prints called “Indian Oratory of
Eight Great Chiefs.”

We visited the yearly Rendezvous, danced with the tribes and Marty
sketched and photographed to his heart’s content. After moving to
Taos, New Mexico, he found himself influenced by the Pueblo Indians
and the Anazasi of whom he made a film called “Chaco, an Artist’s
Vision.” (view the film on Youtube: link: Chaco, An Artist’s Vision –
