Cheryl’s Message

Every work of art I create is entirely unique.  You may find me making dozens of poppies, but each is a sculpturally sophisticated piece completely different from the next…You will never find two alike.  Beginning with a raw sheet of scrap steel or a rusty bit of iron, each artwork is drawn into shape by a multitude of methods.  Cutting, grinding, sanding, buffing, welding, painting and often back to the original rust, each piece is lovingly shaped into a beautiful expression.  Having the ability to transform a mangled raw piece of metal into meaningful art is a blessing which I continue to honor.  I contemplate our natural world in daily meditation and I feel, as an artist, it is not my gift to replicate nature in its most exact form, but a gift to capture the feeling and emotion one experiences when in contact with our surroundings.  As the wind wisps across a petal, as the blossom unfurls, as a bird arcs across an expanse of sky, these are breathes we take and emotions we feel…freedom, relaxation, gratitude and peace.  To capture these emotions in a solitary moment, ignites our souls and helps to make us feel complete.  Thank you for sharing in this experience with me.

We thank Cheryl for her ever-effusive support of the Southern Oregon Artists Resource and invite you to visit her listing in the Visual Artists Directory to make contact!
