Textile and Sewing Classes at Ashland Art Center

Diane Ericson, a seasoned designer, will share tips, ideas and design techniques to assist you.  As a long-time contributor to the sewing industry through workshops and magazine articles, her focus is always on how to build your skills as a designer while you express a more creative, personal look. See her work in Studio #7 in the Art Center.

Summer is a great time to move those stagnant sewing projects along!
This class will meet in Dianes Studio #7 at the Ashland Art Center.  – Bring whatever projects, materials and ideas you have, use our machines and get Diane’s creative and technical help. The labs are help sessions for projects you are working on – not a formal class.

Saturday, July 9, 2011 / 1 pm – 2:30 pm – Lecture only $25  or 1 pm to  4 pm   $45  – includes Lecture and Hands on Work Session with Diane.  Hands on Session participants should bring clothing to remodel, basic sewing supplies, trims, fabrics etc.

Fabric Printing with Stencils

New to fabric printing and ready to get started? Learn to use fabric paints, stencils and fabric pens to create patterns on ready to wear or fabrics for collage. Stenciling is a great technique for combining with other fiber/fabric techniques. You will make a collection of samples and learn to express your own design style with this quick and easy printing method. Diane will share lots of samples of printed fabrics and finished pieces in class.

July 17, 2011 /  1:00 -4:00  /  Ages 14 – Adult  /  Attendance Fee $40  /  Materials Fee-$15 -Includes fabric paints,and pens, stencils to use in class, sponges and three fabric sample pieces.  Participants will need to bring fabric or clothing they would like to print on and several 11 x 14 inch pieces of fabric to create samples on.
