Taste of Summer Celebrates 2011 Season Opening of Britt Music Festival – Saturday ONLY!

Celebrate the beginning of summer in downtown Jacksonville this Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.!

Britt Music Festival, together with the Chamber of Commerce, the Jacksonville Oregon Business Association and community leaders, is hosting “Taste of Summer” to celebrate the beginning of another great Britt season in our beautiful hometown.

The day will include a host of activities for families and adults alike, including a newly added matinee concert with Britt favorite Michael Franti. Music and the sights are free, charges for activities, food and wine will vary. The whole city is coming out for a day of festivities, including:

Wine Tastings from 12-4 p.m. by:

Caprice Vineyards, Devitt Winery, JF Guerrero Wines, Quady North, EdenVale Winery, South Stage Cellars, Longsword Vineyard, Troon Vineyard, Valley View Winery, Weisinger’s of Ashland, Umpqua Valley Wine and Soloro Vineyard.
Wine tasting: $14
Glass: $6
Wine tasting tickets will be available on 3rd street beginning at noon; tastings will be located in shops throughout downtown

Live Music by:

Andy Casad, 12-2 p.m., next to Pico’s, California Street
Kites & Crows, 12-2 p.m., 3rd Street
Christina & Velvet Bleu, 12 noon, Courthouse Steps
Generation Jones, 2-4 p.m., next to Pico’s California Street

Michael Franti Children’s Matinee, 3 p.m., Britt hill. See the matinee page for ticket information.

Michael Franti and Friends will perform a children’s matinee on the Britt hill at 3 p.m. on June 11. Tickets for the matinee are $14.50 per person, and free for children two and under. Franti and his band Spearhead will perform at Britt that evening in a 7:30 p.m. performance, and again Sunday, June 12 at 7 p.m. on the Britt hill in Jacksonville.
