We've grown from a small group of Jacksonville artists with our board meeting at the GoodBean Cafe to over 100 artists with an art center and gallery in the historic core of our charming town. Our mission is to encourage and develop a growing art presence in the city of Jacksonville, to provide venues for artists which will enhance their work and encourage patronage, to work with the merchants of Jacksonville to promote a variety of outstanding events and displays to draw visitors downtown, to inspire and educate and provide additional beauty to our city. “Threads to New Worlds—A Collection of Fiber Arts” will be opening on Friday, May 3rd at Art Presence in Jacksonville. This juried show features 30 pieces of fiber art created by 24 artists from Oregon. Art Presence is located at 206 North Fifth Street in Jacksonville. The hours for this show are 11:00am until 5:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in May, as well as on Memorial Day. An opening reception will be held on Friday May 10th with hors’doeurves and drinks at the gallery from 5pm-7pm.

Program: Featuring: Bedazzling Fringes, Presented by Cindie Kitchin Learn how to embellish your handwoven scarves and shawls with beaded fringes and embellishments. This will be a hands-on program so please bring a pair of scissors and your reading glasses if you wear them, even a magnifying loop may help some although we’re not working with the smallest of beads that I often use. All other supplies are provided.
