Warm Winter Walk

Mild temperatures this winter have allowed me to roam the hills with my paints, canvas, and Becky, my faithful four-legged sidekick. A rare opportunity –  the cold of winter is out of the comfort zone of most plein air painters – and a rare painting of the unique forms and colors the season brings forth.

Umpqua River Autumn

Umpqua River Autumn

The reflections in the water are what attracted me here. Standing on a footbridge looking upriver gave me the vantage point. I had to work quickly as the reflections were changing rapidly.

A portrait of a friend

Portrait of a friend Portrait of a friend

My friend’s daughter who barely sat still for about 30 min while I was able to capture a bit of her essence. She was very pleased and thought it looked like her enough to take a photo of her holding it up to her face. I […]

Wildflowers

Wildflowers

Just finished this larger work from a field study of a month or so ago. It was late Spring or early Summer and the wildflowers were profuse. The scene astouded me so! There were wild Bachelor Buttons, Lupine, Wild Rose, Blue Headed Gilia, and Vetch all in the same field by the lake. […]
