FiNK

Visual appreciation for my art is wanted I suppose, but not totally necessary…Ideally, I want my audience to react in some way either positively or negatively to my art and either a smile or smirk will keep me happy as either way I have gotten an audience response to my art. I suppose the artivist […]

Takin' It To The Street Chalk Art & Music Festival

Artists! All local chalk artists are invited to participate in this small but growing event which is now in its fourth year. Each year’s event has a different theme, and this year it’s Italian/French style masterpiece art, based on Historical Italy’s “The Grazie.” We also invite volunteer musicians, local and professional alike. We start this year’s event with 5 local artists and a few local musicians who are interested in making this event a place of destination. Art Enthusiasts, Parents & Residents! Join us for a celebration of quality chalk art and local live music in downtown Medford on Bartlett off Main St. on Saturday, June 28th from 9-9pm and Sunday June 29th from 12-6 pm. We will have chalk squares available for kids to experiment and play with. Contact Founder/Artist Cathy Gallatin with any questions and to apply for entry at 541-840-2982 or [email protected] Here’s a look at past

I had a fun conversation with Darryl Moody last week at Viridian Artists. The closing reception for his solo show on the 12th—tomorrow, as I’m posting this—and the show goes down the next day. It’s taken me far too long to get a look at Kurt Ketchum’s work, and I was even more impressed by it than I expected to […]

Using Art to talk back to Unwanted “Compliments”

Last fall, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh began replying — through her art — to the dozens of men who approached her in public each week. Business + Arts = Places We Want to Be

One night in mid-May, the coolest place in Cincinnati was a party on top of a painting. It was Cincinnati Fashion Week and we were all smack in the intersection of art and business. We went to parties celebrating Andy Warhol in the former Contemporary Arts Center, talks about fashion art at the Cincinnati Art […]
