This year, the Southern Oregon Society of Artists (SOSA) year-end banquet is open to the public. After two years of being unable to gather to celebrate each other’s art and accomplishments, the organization invites all art enthusiasts to join them. View the showcase of SOSAs winning paintings from 2020 and 2022 art critiques. Vote for the People’s Choice Award and be there as they announce their 2022 Painting of the Year award winners. Enjoy a no-host bar and buffet lunch at Rogue Valley Country Club. Support scholarships for local art students with their silent auction and raffle. The Southern Society of Artists (SOSA) meeting will be held at the Medford Public Library on September 23, at 7 PM. Library doors close at 7 so we suggest 6:45 pm. Our Guest Speaker will be Tony Antonides talking about the Dutch Masters, Camera Obscura and other tools. Refreshments will be served. Guests welcome. Well behaved young people included. The Southern Oregon Society of Artists ( SOSA) will be hosting it’s regular meeting at the Medford Public Library at 7PM Feb. 25th with Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass as our Guest Artist Hawaiian Sunrise, watercolor by Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass A resident of the Rogue Valley since 1972, Lynda Hoffman-Snodgrass received her BS in Art from SOSC in 1978. A third generation Artist, she was encouraged to explore and express her creativity from an early age. Predominately a watercolorist, Lynda works in many water-based mediums and is known for her use of color with a strong emphasis on design. The focus of her current body of artwork is nonrepresentational and abstraction in water media on watercolor paper. Just a heads-up! Due to library availability, Southern Oregon Society of Artists first meeting of 2019 will be the THIRD Monday. Don’t forget this will be a juried critique and the President’s challenge will be black and white drawings for the 2019 directory. All SOSA members are invited to submit entries and all attendees will be asked to vote for their favorite. Number one drawing will be used for the front of the directory and number two will be used for the back. The Southern Oregon Society of Artists will be hosting it’s regular meeting on August 27, 2018 at 7 pm at the Medford Public Library. Our Speaker is illustrator Judith Karen, known locally as Judy Grillo. Judy is the ‘Artist-in Charge” of the 180 foot-long BEE MURAL at Exit-24/ Phoenix, off the I-5. Judy has Illustrated 13 children’ books, created over 1,000 fliers, posters, program covers & signs. Her street signs for the Rist Canyon Fire Dept are 18 years old, and her art for the Eugene Symphony Guild Annual Garden Tours brochure has been in use since 2009. Judith Karen (Judy Grillo) has painted and designed theatre sets and signs, 15 murals, 11 in the L.A. Basin both indoor and out and 1 in Las Vegas (Vegas paid better).
