Art du Jour student art show entry. Image provided by Charity Hubbard

June 2019 Third Friday

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford eagerly anticipates a return of Charity Hubbard’s student art exhibit for our Third Friday reception on June 21st, 5-8 pm. Despite an earlier announcement that our musical entertainment would be held back for this months’ event, due to popular demand we have scheduled classical guitarist Rod Petrone to perform for the evening.

Featured Guest Artist Charity Hubbard in Salon June and July

Frequently painting from life on location “en plein air” and people from life is important to Charity Hubbard. She feels that the regular exercise of painting from life enables her to better capture life, light and a truer sense of atmosphere, even when painting from life is not possible.

Art du Jour student art show entry…

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford eagerly anticipates a return of Charity Hubbard’s student art exhibit in June, which became a major downtown event for our small gallery last year. Due to the popular nature of this exhibit we will hold back from providing musical entertainment for our June Third Friday celebration, primarily for space and noise considerations.

The “People’s Choice” photography contest has gone off as planned and a big thanks to all who stopped by our gallery during Art in Bloom to vote on their favorite artwork. The exhibit remains on display and the results will be announced at the end of May and posted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ArtduJourGallery).

Ashland Gallery Association May Spotlight Exhibits Art & Soul Gallery “Landmarks” – Oil paintings by Jenay Elder

Art sharpens our eyes to the world around us and tugs on our hearts. I have recently used a variety of techniques to create art. I often paint outdoors on the spot and I have started creating compositions in the studio based off plein air studies, photo references, sketches and notes. My motive is to depict different local landmarks and ideas that reflect my experience living in this inspiring area while attempting to convey something that is unseen. I am continually seeking out new experiences where I can form a philosophy to support my picture making while simultaneously honing my abilities and sensitivity.

Please join us on May 4, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Art & Soul Gallery for a festive opening with Art, music, snacks and lively conversation. Works

Main Gallery exhibit: Elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Eleanor Erskine, Alx Fox, Zelpha Hutton, Keith Johnson, and Dan Tilden

Exhibit date: September 29 – November 10, 2017

Artists in this exhibit explore the classical idea of the elements: earth, water, fire, and wind. Printmaker Eleanor Erskine, sculptor Dan Tilden, and abstract painters Alx Fox, Zelpha Hutton, and Keith Johnson uniquely create artwork reflecting this concept of the natural world.

Eleanor H. Erskine received a BFA in Painting/Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute and a MFA in Printmaking with special focus in Sculpture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has taught at Maine College of Art,
