Annual free event. Local artists open their studios to the public for viewing and shopping. Learn how artists create their “magic”. 2nd weekend in June.

Rogue Valley artist Betty Barss is an accomplished and versatile watercolor artist. This exhibit showcases a wide range of subjects from her beloved state of Oregon.

Betty Barss has been painting for close to five decades. She taught fifth and sixth grade art in the Medford schools for twenty-five years. Her painting expertise is with watercolor paint. She is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Southern Oregon Society of Artists, and the Artists’ Workshop. She has received several awards and has exhibited throughput the Northwest. Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford, will be presenting Ruth Heath as featured artist, and Debby Fisher continues to have her stunning display as the guest artist exhibit in the Salon. We will also be announcing the winner of our People’s Choice “Furry and Feathery Friends” contest with the top vote getter on display through the month of November.

Ruth Heath began painting at 22 after purchasing some Walter Foster instruction books. After moving to Medford with her family from Southern California she found this to be an inspiring place to live, and began painting with watercolors, acrylics and pastels.

Southern Oregon photography artists Lewis Anderson and Darcie Sternenberg both create dreamlike landscape images. The Southern Oregon Society of Artists will be hosting it’s regular meeting on August 27, 2018 at 7 pm at the Medford Public Library.

Our Speaker is illustrator Judith Karen, known locally as Judy Grillo.

Judy is the ‘Artist-in Charge” of the 180 foot-long BEE MURAL at Exit-24/ Phoenix, off the I-5. Judy has Illustrated 13 children’ books, created over 1,000 fliers, posters, program covers & signs. Her street signs for the Rist Canyon Fire Dept are 18 years old, and her art for the Eugene Symphony Guild Annual Garden Tours brochure has been in use since 2009.

Judith Karen (Judy Grillo) has painted and designed theatre sets and signs, 15 murals, 11 in the L.A. Basin both indoor and out and 1 in Las Vegas (Vegas paid better). She is currently working on an indoor mural at Wamba’s Mediterranean Diner in Medford

Summer Fine Art Camps taught by Brooke Nuckles Gentekos artist August 6 - 10 ages 3-8 August 13 - 17 ages 9-14 Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM to 12:30PM Cost: $100 + $20 materials fee (includes all drawing and painting materials, canvas, wire, etc.) Young artists will explore foundational visual art skills making original works of art with quality art materials.

Young artists will explore foundational visual art skills making original works of art with quality art materials. Inspired by famous artists and their masterpieces, we’ll DRAW still life, PAINT self portraits, SCULPT with wire and found objects, and CREATE collaborative murals, mandalas and installation art. Artist reception on Friday with campers’ artwork on display.
