Rogue Gallery April 2017 Exhibits – News Rogue Gallery will be closed Saturday, April 8th for the Pear Blossom Festival. IN THE MAIN GALLERY 2017 ARTIST TEEN MENTORING PROJECT

April 14– April 28, 2017

Reception: Friday, April 21, 5–8pm

This exhibition is a culmination of Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s annual Artist Teen Mentoring Project that pairs professional artists with Rogue Valley high school students for intensive study and interaction. On display is the creative work of both teens and mentoring artists, which includes painting in acrylic and oil, assemblage, printmaking, pen and ink, charcoal, and sculpture.

 

Through the program, the students learn new techniques to use in their work, how to present their work in an exhibit, and gain insight to the life of a professional artist. Teen artists had the opportunity to work with

Rogue Valley Biennial 2017 Call to Artists

ROGUE VALLEY BIENNIAL 2017 CALL TO ARTISTS

PURPOSE: As is the tradition of long-standing biennial exhibitions, such as the Venice

Biennale in Italy and the Whitney Biennial in New York City, the Rogue Valley Biennial will present the “art of our time.”

  

Work that is innovative, showcasing contemporary visual artists, both emerging and established.

Work that includes subject matter, processes, and materials that reflect 21st-century perspectives and concerns.

The work included in the exhibit may contain politically and socially relevant content, be provocative in subject matter and imagery, and challenge viewers’ aesthetic perceptions.

THE ROGUE VALLEY BIENNIAL IS A FORUM FOR THE CULTIVATION, UNDERSTANDING, AND APPRECIATION OF REGIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART.

Rogue Valley Biennial

February 20 – April 10, 2015, Reception: Friday, February 20, 5-8pm

 

The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is proud to host the 2015 Rogue Valley Biennial. The Rogue Valley Biennial Art Exhibit is held at different locations in the Southern Oregon every other year. The exhibit celebrates the talents of Southern Oregon artist as they expand their vision in their work. Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings, photography, pastels, and sculpture are among the media exhibited.

 

Biennial exhibits are most commonly used within the art world to describe exhibits that occur every other year. The first exhibit in 1895 was held in Venice, Italy and is still considered the most important. Biennial exhibits are now held throughout the world, most often celebrating contemporary art. The focus of the art is frequently on current cultural events that influence the perception of our everyday life.

Drop Off Date for Rogue Valley Biennial, More from Rogue Gallery

The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is proud to host the Third Rogue Valley Biennial, February 20 – April 10, 2015. We invite both emerging and established artists. Three $200 Jurors’ Choice Awards will be presented for work that best captures interpretations of our world today, commentary on contemporary issues, or is innovative and/or the unusual.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Each artist may submit up to three pieces. A $20 non-refundable submission fee is required for all artists. (Rogue Gallery members and non-members). Work must be original art in any medium. (No giclees). Only work in excellent condition (clean mats and frames) will be accepted. For the safety of the artwork, all work must be properly framed and wired for hanging. No saw tooth hangers. Watercolors and works on paper must be covered by glass or Plexiglas with no exposed edges (closed frames only). For all art sold, the Rogue Gallery
