Don’t Fence Me In: Annual Members’ Exhibition

November 9 – December 21, 2018

In the 2018 Rogue Gallery Annual Members’ Exhibition, over sixty artists interpret the theme of “Don’t fence Me In”. The Annual Members’ Exhibition features work by Rogue Gallery and Art Center members, and is always one of the most popular of the year. The Rogue Gallery has had a long history of supporting local and regional artists. This exhibit gives Rogue Gallery members an opportunity to exhibit one piece of their work on the central theme of “Don’t Fence Me In”. Over 80 artists are participating in this non-juried exhibit. Artists submitted artwork that reflects their personal interpretation of the theme. The exhibit includes watercolors, acrylic, and oil paintings as well as sculptures, photography, and pastels.

Eva Thiemann Announces Two Shows

Artist Eva Thiemann, best known for her dreamy semi-abstract oil paintings of Alaskan bears and, more recently, owls, announces two shows in southern Oregon this fall.

At Bella Fiore Winery, Eva exhibits paintings of bears and owls through September 2018. Bella Fiore is located at 100 Belle Fiore Lane (Formerly 955 Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland, OR 97520.

At Rogue Gallery & Art Center, see several of Thiemann’s paintings of owls, on exhibit until November 2018.

Southern Oregon photography artists Lewis Anderson and Darcie Sternenberg both create dreamlike landscape images. Anderson’s Asian inspired pieces are large multi-paneled images while Sternenberg’s smaller, intimate pieces are in black and white. In this exhibit, each image is titled with a question, which invites the viewer to establish a stronger connection to the art.

Lewis Anderson’s images are layered photographic images on elongated canvases. His use of layered images creates mystical and deeply spiritual landscapes, which are reminiscent of ancient Chinese landscapes. The artwork reflects his own spiritual journey. Having survived a

The Stage as Muse: The Art of the Rogue Gallery Staff

The stage is the inspiration for this Rogue Gallery staff exhibit. The artists approached the theme using the historical works of Shakespeare, classical music, modern dramatic plays, and the experience of attending the theater. Julia Janeway,WESTCLIFFE SANTO, ceramic Reception: Friday, July 20, 5:00-8:00 pm Ashland artist, Julia Janeway explores the meaning of “sanctuary” in her new ceramic works. She creates ceramic “retablos” which traditionally are paintings of saints. In her artistic interpretation, the saints are depicted as owls, birds, and other animals. Her inspiration for this exhibit from the time she spent living in Taos, New Mexico where retablos commonly adorn homes and churches. Fourth Friday Films, Alpaca Picnic and Call to Artists from Rogue Gallery

THIS FRIDAY, MAY 25 FOURTH FRIDAY FILMS Friday, May 25, 7:00 pm Local artists turned film-makers Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells present the fifth installment of their Fourth Friday Films series. This Friday’s airing will highlight 3 short films by Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells. Greeley Wells’ piece is entitled “Be Deep Into Presence” with the music of Jeff Pevar as the soundtrack.

This is the second to last of this series. The last film will be on June 22nd. Fourth Friday Films will take a break for the summer and return in October.

Films will be shown in the Rogue Studio. Attendance is free.
