Portland artists, Dianne Jean Erickson and Barbara Martin create highly imaginative contemporary works. Erickson creates encaustic monotypes and mixed media prints. Martin uses acrylic, oil pastel and pencil in her mixed media paintings. Their work is infused with energy and expression.

Dianne Jean Erickson has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Southern Oregon University. She is a founding member of the contemporary art group AMBUS. For a number of years she had a co-op gallery in Jacksonville then Medford. She has received numerous awards for her artwork and has exhibited throughout the West Coast. She resides in Portland. Rogue Valley artist Betty Barss is an accomplished and versatile watercolor artist. This exhibit showcases a wide range of subjects from her beloved state of Oregon.

Betty Barss has been painting for close to five decades. She taught fifth and sixth grade art in the Medford schools for twenty-five years. Her painting expertise is with watercolor paint. She is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Southern Oregon Society of Artists, and the Artists’ Workshop. She has received several awards and has exhibited throughput the Northwest. Don’t Fence Me In: Annual Members’ Exhibition

In the 2018 Rogue Gallery Annual Members’ Exhibition, over sixty artists interpret the theme of “Don’t fence Me In”. The Annual Members’ Exhibition features work by Rogue Gallery and Art Center members, and is always one of the most popular of the year. The Rogue Gallery has had a long history of supporting local and regional artists. This exhibit gives Rogue Gallery members an opportunity to exhibit one piece of their work on the central theme of “Don’t Fence Me In”. Over 80 artists are participating in this non-juried exhibit. Artists submitted artwork that reflects their personal interpretation of the theme. The exhibit includes watercolors, acrylic, and oil paintings as well as sculptures, photography, and pastels.

Eva Thiemann Announces Two Shows

Artist Eva Thiemann, best known for her dreamy semi-abstract oil paintings of Alaskan bears and, more recently, owls, announces two shows in southern Oregon this fall.

At Bella Fiore Winery, Eva exhibits paintings of bears and owls through September 2018. Bella Fiore is located at 100 Belle Fiore Lane (Formerly 955 Dead Indian Memorial Road), Ashland, OR 97520.

Southern Oregon photography artists Lewis Anderson and Darcie Sternenberg both create dreamlike landscape images. Anderson’s Asian inspired pieces are large multi-paneled images while Sternenberg’s smaller, intimate pieces are in black and white. In this exhibit, each image is titled with a question, which invites the viewer to establish a stronger connection to the art.

Lewis Anderson’s images are layered photographic images on elongated canvases. His use of layered images creates mystical and deeply spiritual landscapes, which are reminiscent of ancient Chinese landscapes. The artwork reflects his own spiritual journey. Having survived a
