Inspired by the East: Annual Art Movement Tribute

Rogue Gallery artists created work with the inspiration of the art of the East. Artists used themes and styles from China, Japan, India, and other countries of the East. The exhibit includes oil, acrylics, watercolor, pen and ink, Chinese brush painting, pastels, fiber art, photography, and mixed media.

Adventures in Experience: Imaginative Works by Dianne Jean Erickson & Barbara Martin

Portland artists, Dianne Jean Erickson and Barbara Martin create highly imaginative contemporary works. Erickson creates encaustic monotypes and mixed media prints. Martin uses acrylic, oil pastel and pencil in her mixed media paintings. Their work is infused with energy and expression.

Dianne Jean Erickson has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Southern Oregon University. She is a founding member of the contemporary art group AMBUS. For a number of years she had a co-op gallery in Jacksonville then Medford. She has received numerous awards for her artwork and has exhibited throughout the West Coast. She resides in Portland. Free! FOURTH FRIDAY FILMS March 23, 2018 7:00 p.m. Local artists turned film-makers Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells present the third installment of their Fourth Friday Films series. This Friday’s airing will highlight filrms by Bruce Bayard. In addition there will be short films by Freeley Wells, and works by Larry Lewis. Films will be shown in the Rogue Studio. Attendance is free.

CELTIC CELEBRATION CONTEST WINNERS Another Sell-Out Crowd has a fabulous time! It was a wonderful night, abley MC’ed by volunteer Tom Hearon and graced by the songs of the Blarney Tones and a spirited Irish band, the Roaring Rogues.

From an incredibly talented group of singers, Jena Harris won the “Danny Boy” singing contest as judged by the enthusiastic audience.

Rogue Valley Biennial

The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is proud to host the 2015 Rogue Valley Biennial. The Rogue Valley Biennial Art Exhibit is held at different locations in the Southern Oregon every other year. The exhibit celebrates the talents of Southern Oregon artist as they expand their vision in their work. Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings, photography, pastels, and sculpture are among the media exhibited.

 

Biennial exhibits are most commonly used within the art world to describe exhibits that occur every other year. The first exhibit in 1895 was held in Venice, Italy and is still considered the most important. Biennial exhibits are now held throughout the world, most often celebrating contemporary art. The focus of the art is frequently on current cultural events that influence the perception of our everyday life.

“My paintings represent my journey in chasing my “muse.” I sometimes think, “Ah ha, now I have her.” Then later she taunts me to find her again. It is a constant search to find her in each painting or when working dyeing silk. Actually, dyeing silk was the beginning of my journey. Later I tried watercolor and finally acrylic became my favored medium. I now frequently find that the two mediums work well with each other in my pursuit of the muse.”
