Exhibition Description: Open to artists who use paper as their substrate or primary medium. Works made on, or of paper may include, (but are not limited to) – painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, collage, cut paper, paper constructions, etc. All mediums on paper will be considered.

The application fee for our juried exhibitions is $30 for up to three images of work, plus one detail image if necessary. A limited number of artists who experience financial hardship may be exempt from paying the entry fee; please send us an email to request a fee waiver:[email protected]. All applicants should submit an artist’s statement about their body of work. Accepted artworks must not exceed 72″ horizontally and must not have been previously shown at WMG.

Julia Janeway,WESTCLIFFE SANTO, ceramic Reception: Friday, July 20, 5:00-8:00 pm Ashland artist, Julia Janeway explores the meaning of “sanctuary” in her new ceramic works. She creates ceramic “retablos” which traditionally are paintings of saints. In her artistic interpretation, the saints are depicted as owls, birds, and other animals. Her inspiration for this exhibit from the time she spent living in Taos, New Mexico where retablos commonly adorn homes and churches. Peter Coons Sunset Drama

February brings new exhibits from member artists at Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main in Medford.

During the month of February Peter Coons work will be the featured in the Salon and Jan Hartmann will be the featured artist on the feature wall.

Peter Coons grew up in a family of artists and was influenced at an early age by the arts. As a youth, his father, a fashion designer, took him to Europe to experience old world culture. For several years, he lived and attended school in Florence, Italy. His exposure to the artists of the High Renaissance made an indelible impression.

As a university student he took ceramics and art courses and graduated with a degree in history. Concurrent with his career as a public service executive, he satisfied his artistic impulses with printmaking and painting workshops

Alx Fox Sunrise Through the Mist

Main Gallery exhibit: Elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Eleanor Erskine, Alx Fox, Zelpha Hutton, Keith Johnson, and Dan Tilden

Exhibit date: September 29 – November 10, 2017

Artists in this exhibit explore the classical idea of the elements: earth, water, fire, and wind. Described as the simplest essential parts of all things, the four elements have fascinated artists throughout history. Printmaker Eleanor Erskine, sculptor Dan Tilden, and abstract painters Alx Fox, Zelpha Hutton, and Keith Johnson uniquely create artwork reflecting this concept of the natural world.

Eleanor H. Erskine received a BFA in Painting/Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute and a MFA in Printmaking with special focus in Sculpture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has taught at Maine College of Art,
