New Painting Named by Charles Sampson

New Painting Named by Charles Sampson Artist Eugenia Talbott Adderson with famed pro rodeo Bull Rider Charles Sampson and her painting, Don't Call Me Buttercup

New Painting Named by Charles Sampson

My newest piece, an oil painting of a longhorn bull, was recently entitled, “Don’t Call Me Buttercup!” by 1982 World Champion Bull Rider Charles Sampson. Charles was the first African American cowboy to win a world title in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He retired at the Dodge National Circuit Finals in Pocatello, ID, in 1994 and was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1996. It was a great honor to meet him, and a greater honor still for him to give me the title for my painting!

The original of “Don’t Call Me Buttercup!”—my new painting named by Charles Sampson—was purchased in February 2017. However, prints are now available. Please contact me at [email protected] for more details. Webmistress Hannah

Going For It & Improvising Sometimes success is showing up and going for it. That’s how today’s post feels. This is another portrait improvisation. I try to start and finish in one sitting, which is not my usual approach. For me, this is a test of wits. I have to be able to think on […]

Portrait of Beth

My favorite working method is having the model come to your studio many days in a row (nine sessions, unless I lost count) – instead of the way I used to work, which was have the model come once a week for a number of weeks.  When you have the model in the room everyday, […]
