How to Paint a Landscape in Three Different Mediums

How to Paint a Landscape in Three Different Mediums by Anita HartCarroll

Painting the same scene three different times using a different medium on each painting can be very enlightening and a lot of fun! In our article at VeryCreate.com, I explore using pastel, acrylic and watercolor to paint a distinctive landscape of Vantage, Washington on the Columbia River. I share what I learned and what I would do differently the next time I paint the scene.

The goal of the experiment was to see how different each medium handled the same subject and if the final results were unique enough for me to pick a favorite standout. The knowledge I gained by completing the three paintings really surprised me!

In the acrylic painting, I blew up the scale and went for high drama on canvas. Using thin layers of paint and glazes, I was able to adjust the value

Saturday Campfire Chat – The Artist Inspiration with Stefan Baumann

Saturday Campfire Chat - The Artist Inspiration with Stefan Baumann

“No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist” -Oscar Wilde Inspiration After one of coldest winters that we have ever experienced at The Grand View Ranch, the snow has finally melted. It’s Time The evening sky turns from cadmium yellow to magenta with a magnificent display of spring light that transitions our day into darkness. A blanket of stars begins to appear

2019 Winter Art Classes and Workshops

Happy New Year to all of you creative souls! We have moved some things around at Kindred Spirits and I have taken over part of the space as my studio/workshop where it will be much more convenient to teach art classes and celebrate your creations through art walks and events. What I want to accomplish, through my classes is not so much that you look at your creation to reach your ideal of perfection, but through the creative process, find your soul, see what amazing gift you have been blessed with and through that, share with the rest of the world. (Who knows what changes we can make). I’m offering but a catalyst and a space to move forward with this in mind. Below is a list of some of the classes and workshops we will be having as well as a series
