Final Views of the Convention and Point Lobos

Plein Air Painting at Carmel Mission

“Carmel Mission in Morning Light” It’s Monday, I’m in Monterey, California, and I went out before the Plein Air Convention opened to paint the effects of morning light on Carmel Mission.This is one of my favorite structures to paint. This morning was one of those mornings when everything went right, including the lighting. Plein air painting seashore towns along the coast in the morning can be tricky because fog can impair visibility, making the locations impossible to see. 1st Place in Painting at Red Bluff Western Art Show

I am so excited and delighted to receive a blue ribbon and 1st place prize for my entry called “Drag Rider” in the Red Bluff National Western Art Show today.  There were over 150 entries in the show and my painting of a tired cowboy on horseback who is bringing in the last of the cattle for the day won 1st place in the painting division.
