I love how the sky and the snow contrast with the warmth of the adobe. This is why we call New Mexico the “Land of Extreme Enchantment”! Price: $300 Media: Oil on canvas Size: 8″x10″

I have a friend who lives on a high mesa at the base of the mountain, and she invited me up to paint. Using a knife, oil and canvas, I got to know this mass of rock that lends a mystical quality to life in Taos, New Mexico. Even on a cold spring day, the […]

This church, called San Francisco de Asis, is the most photographed church in America. It was built between 1772 and 1816, and the community of Rancho de Taos sprung up around it. It was a favorite subject for Ansel Adams, Georgia O’Keefe, and many other artists. Add my name to the list; it’s within walking distance […]

In the dry southwest, the river cuts through the desert like a knife and leaves an impression both on the landscape and the people who live in it. Under the blazing blue sky, spring’s colors came to their fullest potential – creating a dynamic but peaceful plein air painting, a contradiction inspired by the landscape itself. Price: $650.00 Media: Oil […]

Most often we notice the starting and end points of a journey, not the passages between. This blue gate demands to be noticed, while at the same time it invites us into the sun-dappled world beyond. Seeing it near my house always gives me a smile – who knows where the day may take us? […]

Volcanic action millions of years ago created these red rocks at Diablo Canyon, New Mexico; carved out by water, this landscape is still in formation. Standing among them, I realize how short a human life really is. Luckily, my art will last a lot longer than me – though not as long as the canyons. […]

I traveled with a plein air group to Diablo Canyon, just outside of Santa Fe near the Rio Grande. The drama of the rocks and clouds gave us plenty to paint. It’s certainly a change from the rolling hills of Southern Oregon, where I’ve been painting for the past couple of years! Price: $500.00 Media: […]
