A Splash of Pinot! painting by Alx Fox

Driven to Abstraction exhibit explores the skillful composition of rich color and exciting texture. Accomplished abstract painters, Alx Fox and Virginia Andrade are featured in this exhibit.

Alx Fox is an abstract expressionist painter who works in acrylic. She is driven by her passion for self-expression using bold colors and distinctive textures. She studied art, photography, and design at Barat College, Lake Forest, Ill. focusing on experimental art. She was President of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists from January 2012 through 2014. Her work is in private collections worldwide and has been showcased in many national shows. She resides in Southern Oregon. Alx will be teaching a workshop

Reception: Friday, August 18, 5:00-8:00 pm Rogue River artist Vince Carl and Bandon artist Susan Lehman are lifelong artists. Carl earned a BFA from Miami University and continued studying with Mitch Kaufman-Katz and Pat Enos. Lehman studied fine art and textiles at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and graduated with Distinction. Their abstract paintings are evocative of varied experiences and places with richly textured surfaces created with techniques honed over a lifetime. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Rogue Gallery’s current Main Gallery exhibit showcases the work of northwest artists Jonnel Covault, Julia Janeway, and Randall Perkins . All three artists find inspiration for their artwork in nature. Jonnel Covault’s linocuts express her lifelong love of the water and wildlife. Julia Janeway captures nature’s fleeting moments in her woodcut-inspired ceramics. Randall Perkins draws inspiration for his glasswork from the ever-changing landscape of his wife’s garden.

New exhibit in the Community Gallery: Judith Ghetti Ommen: Mixed Media Paintings December 4 – January 8, 2015 Reception Friday, December 18, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

“Joy of Sailing” painting by Judy Ommen

Judith Ghetti Ommen recently moved to the Rogue Valley from Georgetown, Texas. She has been active in the arts community throughout her life. She holds a MFA in painting, taught art history at Marquette University in Milwaukee, has served on numerous arts councils, and has exhibited her work throughout the United States. Her work includes Asian inspired landscapes and playful teapot themed works suggestive of a Chinese of tea ceremony. Incorporating Chinese brush painting, collage, pastels, and drawing in her mixed media works, she creates images of rich textures and strong designs. Her study of Oriental Brush techniques deeply
