…I did not know that fiber arts could be so very well done, so truly artful. The quilted pieces on display range from intricate embroidery to painted silk, from garments to wall art, and from abstract to landscape to figurative. Definitely a fabulous display of the broad range of creativity possible with fabric, needle and thread! This show will only be up for another week, ending next Friday, so I strongly recommend you go see it soon if you haven’t already. You’ll be glad you did!

The ladies of the Jacksonville Museum Quilters are knee deep in final preparations for their 2011 annual quilt show, but excited to announce they have over 175 quilts to share with the public this year!

We are delighted to announce the new listing of the Jacksonville Museum Quilters, who have officially opened the Quilting category, now available in the Wearable Art section of the Lifestyle Arts directory. Keeping this ancient functional art alive with skill and talent, these women create beautiful quilts using advanced hand-applique techniques. Please read on for important info about their 33rd Annual Show, with featured quilter Joedy Kimmel, coming in July!

Program: Featuring: Bedazzling Fringes, Presented by Cindie Kitchin Learn how to embellish your handwoven scarves and shawls with beaded fringes and embellishments. This will be a hands-on program so please bring a pair of scissors and your reading glasses if you wear them, even a magnifying loop may help some although we’re not working with the smallest of beads that I often use. All other supplies are provided.
