The long list of awards and honors she has accumulated over many years of painting is truly impressive. Her work is noted for vibrant color and the fluid, sparkling quality of her watercolor medium. Central Art Supply Carries on a Legacy for our Art Community

Central Art Supply

In 1976 George & Winnie Ebert brought their successful art materials business from Coos Bay, OR to Medford – Ebert Arts Center & Framing. In 1981 they moved to 6th & Central Ave known now as Central Art Supply. Their vision and belief in the artistic pulse of Southern Oregon has benefitted our region for the past 41years. Truly pioneers in the art community that we have all come to love.

George passed away September 20 after a battle with cancer. He will be sorely missed by his family and by many in the community. He loved working with people and had such a pleasant disposition. Up until the last month of his life, he would often stop by Central Art to hang out, help, visit with customers – whatever he wanted to do. We at Central Art are proud to carry on his legacy here in the

September Brings Abstraction to Art du Jour Gallery

Rondo in Color, painting by Millie Clarke

Rondo in Color, by Millie Clarke

Millie Clarke Millie Clarke, Featured Artist for September at Art du Jour Gallery, will show her new collection of vibrant acrylic abstract art. Clarke’s work has been described as “having wild spontaneity but with controlled esthetics”. She is noted for using colors in imaginative ways and in employing texture to add interest to her pieces. In her new collection, Clarke uses one foot by four feet canvases. The interspacing of straight bars over her creations provides the viewer with “windows” into the painting. These works may be hung vertically or horizontally.

The exhibit includes a large 30” x 40” work titled “Rondo in Color.” This piece is a fusion of paint-handling techniques which Clarke uses that includes scraping, scratching and wiping. The plane of a large painted area gains tension from her use of shaped and scratched smaller blocks of contrasting color.
