The Surface and Structures exhibit features abstract artist Cammy Davis and sculptor Nadine Gay. Cammy Davis paints bold large abstract acrylic paintings. Nadine Gay is a multi-media artist who creates whimsical and contemplative ceramic figurative sculptures. The exhibit is a juxtaposition of large, textured, color enriched canvases with sculpture that is figurative, spiritual, and at times delicate. Each artists’ work is beautifully complemented by the other.

GOLDEN Days Acrylic Pouring Workshop When: Fri. May 10, 2019 Time: 2:00pm – 5:00pm Where: Central Art Fee: $45

The first workshop will be Acrylic Pouring! on May 10th, 2019 2pm – 5pm at Central Art’s classroom.

You will receive a kit full of GOLDEN goodies for four pours using Golden’s Gloss and Matte Pouring Mediums, Golden Fluid Colors, and Golden High Flow Colors on Ampersand Pouring Panels, Art Alternative Canvas, and creating an acrylic skin on Plexiglass. One of the pours will be an embellished Geode pour.

 

You will also learn how to create specific patterns using different techniques such as swirl or ring pours and how to create LONG LASTING cells and working “wet on wet”. You will also receive a worksheet with Tips & Tricks, FAQ’s, Troubleshooting, and more.

Artist Teen Mentoring Project Exhibit

April 19 – May 3, 2019

This exhibit is a culmination of the Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s annual Artist Teen Mentoring Project. Through this program, students receive art instruction and insight on being a professional artist. On display is the artwork of nine students and four mentors who participated in the program. Media includes drawing, painting, pastels, printmaking, and photography. Mentors include Kristen Beck, Amy Godard, Charity Hubbard, and Silvia Trujillo. Students include Brieann Fitch, Morgan Godard, Matt Hearon, Lenah Hong, Grace Jarrett, Merwin Nikad, Cassie Penn, Azana Prout, and Lakaia Thornton.

In this free demo, Lupe will cover how to draw a head/face and then demonstrate the use of a limited color palette on toned paper. Techniques shown will include using a measuring system and landmarks to draw a face, and how using a limited color palette can actually be beneficial in understanding color and creating color harmony.
