
This November, Seattle’s Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA) and La Sala announce new events for the exhibition, (Where) Do We Belong?
The public is invited to join CoCA and La Sala at the First Thursday Art Walk for a performance by Milvia Berenice Pacheco Salvatierra. Pacheco is an Afro Latina artist, born in Caracas, Venezuela, where she trained in dance and theater. Her art is inspired by early traumatic experiences and she has devoted her life to reaching liberation through art and movement as a contemporary dancer, choreographer, performer,bodyworker,mother and community organizer.Marías, is a work-in-progress dance and poetry performance inspired and created by Pacheco during the recent staged reading of the book, Killing Marías, written by Washington State’s Poet Laureate Claudia Castro Luna.Recorded music by Trio Guadalevin will accompany the piece.
