July 13, 1-2pm at Art Presence Art Center in Jacksonville, activist/artist Catie Faryl will talk about “luminosity” in light of the need for transparency and truth and what art and satire can reveal.

The aspect of creating art as political and social satire is one of many paths to truth since it can reveal hidden or unacknowledged aspects of society and what is communicated or not, as well as what we need to consider and change. Art can also serve as a relief to the stress of political and economic anxieties by reducing the grandiosity of our problems and looking at things with fresh eyes and light.
Two of the paintings Catie will exhibit in the July “Luminosity” show at Art Presence are from her short written piece – “A Trip to Cynbalta: A Story of Community.” After a presentation of this body of
