About the author: January 2018 at Art du Jour Gallery NEWEST GALLERY ARTIST Oil Painter John Acosta Hope and Despair, by John Acosta Medford artist John Acosta, Art du Jour Gallery’s newest member, is an oil painter whose work is bold, exciting, masculine, and often spiritual in theme. His style is entirely his own. John is self-taught and has been painting in oils for only four years, yet his work shows the passion and innate talent of a painter destined to become a fine artist. We hope you will visit Art du Jour in January and view John’s work. “My Defender” is a dream-like but unmistakable vision of Jesus, “Travertino Façade” is a beautiful and detailed rendering of Rome’s Colosseum, and “Brenda” is a saucy feline with mischief in her eyes. Of the three other oil paintings that complete John’s current display, “Hope and Despair” is the most emotionally engaging.
