Art, Jobs, Trump- Americans for the Arts Action Fund

According to The New York Times, “the White House budget office has drafted a hit list of programs that President Trump could eliminate to trim domestic spending, including longstanding conservative targets like the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Legal Services Corporation, AmeriCorps and the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities.”

Because this is not an official White House position yet, you can still help us get a message to President Trump to say NO to these staff recommendations. Please sign our petition and stay involved with our advocacy campaign to protect federal support for the arts and culture.

We have a narrow window of time before the President officially releases his first budget in March/April. An important talking point that we have to work with is the federal government’s latest economic numbers on the arts and culture industry since the President has declared a focus on

Jacksonville Elementary School Announces 9th Annual Student Art Exhibition

For the Love of Art, by Alaya Metwally

Jacksonville Elementary continues Parent Art Program and Art Exhibition THURSDAY, March 21st, 5-7:30

For the Love of Art, by Alaya Metwally

Students at Jacksonville Elementary School have learned about perspective, pointillism, color and collage. They can tell you the difference between fine art and illustration – realism and abstraction. A unique partnership of parents, teachers, administrators and community members study and teach art in K-6 classrooms to bring their students an excellent art program.

Between October and March, parents lead the students through projects designed to teach art basics such as shape, color, line and texture. Parent volunteers are in the process of teaching 20+ projects to their students. They’ve introduced students to the work of master artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keefe, Vincent van Gogh, Albrecht Dürer, Eric Carle and Henri Matisse. They’ve exposed students to a wide variety of materials and techniques

Creative Convergence Highlights Benefits of Arts Education

Los Angeles took a cue from the success of Art Miami and scheduled six art shows in the space of one week last month. Helping Students Find Their Own Voices in the Arts

As advocates for arts education, we try to stay flexible and timely in our rationale and arguments. We want to be current and relevant about the latest studies and trends. If “21st century skills” are in vogue, we can show the relevance of arts learning. If the talk is about the primacy of science, technology, […]

Arts Education Skills Vital for a Successful Economy

When I chose creative writing focusing on poetry as my college major, my parents slipped into a mild depression. On the other hand, they were buoyed up by the fact that I chose to stay in school rather than devote myself full-time to my rock and roll band. It all worked out, and both skills, […]
