GPMA August 2020 eNews Grants Pass Museum of Art We had our very first “live” class in the museum on Saturday. It was so good to see people – even if we weren’t “up close and personal.” We hope to do more, but in the meantime we are holding some classes at Reinhart Park. We heard some really sad news from the American Alliance of Museums: The American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the only organization representing the entire scope of the museum community, warned that one out of every three museums may shutter forever as funding sources and financial reserves run dry. Without near-term assistance from governments and private donors, hundreds of directors reported their museums may not survive the financial crisis brought on by the pandemic. We feel very fortunate that our museum is relatively stable. We have a small footprint, only two paid staff, and fairly Continue reading GPMA August 2020 News By Southern Oregon Artists Resource, 1974 contributed posts

Grants Pass Museum of Art July 2020 News You would be surprised at how much goes on at the museum even though it isn’t open. We still have to plan for the future and take care of the business at hand. We actually had a “live” board meeting in June and everyone sat a safe six feet apart. Planning is tricky because everything is so uncertain. We are hoping to open the museum sometime perhaps in August? We would be displaying a part of our permanent collection. We are also hoping to have the annual membership exhibit and we were thinking we could have it earlier than usual – perhaps starting in October. We will be limiting the number of submissions to one per artist. We are hoping to have lots of participation so be thinking about what you want to submit if you are one of our Continue reading Grants Pass Museum of Art July 2020 News By Southern Oregon Artists Resource, 1974 contributed posts
