September 2021 eNews

The museum enjoys varying responses from its visitors. Here are a few examples:

I was with a friend the other day and she told me that she had been to the museum to see our latest exhibit. “Why didn’t you come and see me? I asked. She replied, “You know – it was so peaceful and the art was so wonderful, I really didn’t want to talk.”

Yesterday a couple was here and they had lots of questions. It turns out they thought Gallery One was the museum. (That is a common response from people who say, “we didn’t know you were here.”) They stayed a long time and had an interesting conversation with Kristen about various books in our library.

Today, our current exhibit artist, Ilene, brought some of her friends to see the exhibit and it was wonderful to hear her talk about each

November 2020 eNews It seems like just yesterday I was putting together the eNews for October. Time is mysteriously flying by even though life is still topsy turvy. We are trying to continue some of the usual programs at the museum. Note that we have a new series of classes AND our annual membership exhibit will open on November 12. The open days and hours of the museum are still less than normal. When we are open we are pleased to have visitors. We hope to see you soon!In the meantime, stay safe.Enjoy! GPMA August 2020 News

GPMA August 2020 eNews Grants Pass Museum of Art We had our very first “live” class in the museum on Saturday. It was so good to see people – even if we weren’t “up close and personal.” We hope to do more, but in the meantime we are holding some classes at Reinhart Park.

We heard some really sad news from the American Alliance of Museums:

The American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the only organization representing the entire scope of the museum community, warned that one out of every three museums may shutter forever as funding sources and financial reserves run dry. Without near-term assistance from governments and private donors, hundreds of directors reported their museums may not survive the financial crisis brought on by the pandemic.

We feel very fortunate that our museum is relatively stable. We have a small footprint, only two paid staff, and fairly

We ask that each student bring their own supplies and a mask (to wear if Kristen needs to get closer than six feet). Advance registration is required and class size is limited to 9 people. grants pass museum of art - gpma october 2020 news

Grants Pass Museum of Art July 2020 News You would be surprised at how much goes on at the museum even though it isn’t open. We still have to plan for the future and take care of the business at hand. We actually had a “live” board meeting in June and everyone sat a safe six feet apart. Planning is tricky because everything is so uncertain. We are hoping to open the museum sometime perhaps in August? We would be displaying a part of our permanent collection. We are also hoping to have the annual membership exhibit and we were thinking we could have it earlier than usual – perhaps starting in October. We will be limiting the number of submissions to one per artist. We are hoping to have lots of participation so be thinking about what you want to submit if you are one of our
