About the author: I begin my watercolor paintings with an idea and a drawing. I build the painting layer by layer, drawing lines and shapes, looking for rhythm and feeling. My color sense is a reflection of my childhood in New Mexico fused with colors of my home in the Northwest. My goal is to go beyond the surface to find joy, wonder and a bit of mystery. I have shown my works in galleries, juried, group and solo shows in Washington, Oregon, Montana and New Mexico. My paintings are in private collections in the west, New York and Norway.

About the author: When I moved to Oregon in the 1970s I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Living here is an endless source of inspiration for many of my watercolor paintings. Oregon landscapes and rivers have been a favorite subject, as well as still life, florals and architecture. Another source of inspiration is traveling with my husband. We love Italy, the place of my family’s roots. I find the rich textures and colors of old world cultures, as well as the people, wonderful subjects to paint. It was here in Oregon that I was introduced to watercolors. I’ve had the privilege of learning under the instruction of accomplished watercolorists like Lavonne Tarbox-Crone, Judy Morris and Margaret Godfrey. These wonderful artists have inspired and nurtured me, but above all I want to acknowledge that my abilities are a gift of the Creator, whose beautiful masterpieces cannot be rivaled. I have been a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon since 2004. Visit my new website at lindaabblettwatercolor.com!

I will be showing my original watercolor paintings (and maybe a giclee or two) at GoodBean Coffee this year! My show begins March 1 and continues through March 31. I’m not yet sure which paintings I will bring, but there will be a selection of framed paintings from the pieces you see on my website. […]

I created a praying angel painting for the GoodBean’s Angels show, and now that I have a new blog, I wanted tomake it the subject of my first post! I thought I would take an approach that’s a little different from the art I normally create. This angel is 11″ x 14″, a watercolor and ink collage. She has already attracted many lovely compliments, and will be on display with the angels of other southern Oregon artists at GoodBean Coffee in Jacksonville, Oregon until the afternoon of December 31, 2015.

Eugenia Talbott of Talbott Studios has had five paintings accepted into a show of African themed art at the Berryman Gallery, upstairs from the Craterian Theater, in conjunction with their current presentation of the teen musical “Tarzan.” The play has been a huge hit with sold out crowds, which is great for the young actors in our area. A member of the Rogue Gallery and Art Center, Talbott’s collection of 5 superb original oils depicting African subjects are on exhibit now through the end of September. The paintings are titled “Boss” (a magnificent oil face-to-face portrait of a male lion, complete with flowing mane),” Cheetah Family at Sunset,” “Zebra II,” “Priddy,” “Elisa,” & “Samburu Girls.” The latter three are portraits of young Africans whom Genie met personally on her travels there. All originals are also available as limited edition prints.

Though the textures and innovative rendering of the human form Dawn creates demonstrate the amazing ability of the senses to compensate for each other, it’s more than just her observant eyes and sensitive hands at work – her intuitive sense, sharpened by earnest spiritual seeking through the direct experience of many cultures, has forged a unique way of interpreting human relationships and an equally unique approach to expressing her observations in creative form. One can see various deaf communication signs incorporated into most of Dawn’s designs, and if you’re one who understands sign language, you’ll find a message in each one.
