About the author: The subject matter that I am interested in is representational. I strive to be thorough and accurate and yet catch what is fleeting and lively. The work I'm most proud of shows life as I see it: fatally flawed, but amazingly beautiful. See Sarah's listing at the Southern Oregon Artists Resource to learn more and make contact.

The Peace Rose has been following me for the past several years. In most of the homes I’ve rented in this time, whether in Southern Oregon, the Oregon coast or New Mexico, this rose has been growing in the backyard! Here she is at my new place near Darlings Resort on Siltcoos Lake, Oregon. Price: […]

I recently did an oil painting demonstration for the Josephine County Arts Association, and this was the still life that resulted using a brush and palette knife. As the layers of color built on one another, so did the relationship between the objects on the table. It was a well attended event, and I think […]

I’m making a real effort to get most of my available work up onto my Etsy site – I’ve been so resistant to the dull work of it all, but for whatever reason, I’m on a roll now. You know, just in case you have $60 – $3000 burning a hole in your pocket. (lol, […]

I’ve written about Rogue Valley Roses before – and I’m still such a big fan. Mrs. Janet Inada graciously hosted myself and two other artists for an afternoon of painting on her A M A Z I N G rose farm in late May of this year. She grows and sells roses on their own […]

I’ve always been attracted to sunflowers, from the tasty and nutritious seeds to the bright and cheerful faces of the flowers. They’re one of my favorite subjects for painting. I set up this still life under the skylight to create an unusual diffused light effect, with apples and oranges completing the warm color scheme. Price: […]

It must be spring somewhere because I found tulips and strawberries at the market! This robust bouquet of brilliant reds, greens and yellows created a dynamic still life. Promising warmer weather, the flowers and strawberries call out with color to the newly opened buds on the trees outside my window. Oil on canvas 16″x20″ $525

New work – just varnished it today. I used Van Dyck Brown and Cremnitz white for these paintings and may I just say what a delicious combo that is (not literally – cremnitz is lead and that is poison).
