About the author: Founded by artist Anne Brooke, Art Presence is an art organization operating as a non-profit under the Arts Council of Southern Oregon. We've grown from a small group of Jacksonville artists with our board meeting at the GoodBean Cafe to over 100 artists with an art center and gallery in the historic core of our charming town. Our mission is to encourage and develop a growing art presence in the city of Jacksonville, to provide venues for artists which will enhance their work and encourage patronage, to work with the merchants of Jacksonville to promote a variety of outstanding events and displays to draw visitors downtown, to inspire and educate and provide additional beauty to our city. Community Gallery Exhibit: Planets, Moons, and Meteors, Fiber Art by Nancy Pagani “Not Quite,” Fiber collage by Nancy Pagani September 16 – October 14, 2016 Reception Date September 16, 5:00-8:00 pm Using a variety of fiber art techniques and little nuggets of physics knowledge, Ashland artist Nancy Pagani explores planets, moons, and meteors. Local artist Nancy Pagani creates works in fiber on the theme of outer space. Images inspired by planets, moons, quarks, black holes, and meteors are sewn into her quilted fiber works. Nancy has worked with fabric since she was a child, and her passion for creating with fabric includes surface design, quilting, and weaving. Commercial fabrics as well as fabrics that she has dyed and painted are incorporated into the artwork. Main Gallery The Rogue Gallery is proud to host the artwork of the contemporary art group AMBUS. The nine artists that comprise AMBUS will be exhibiting two dimensional and three dimensional work of a variety of mediums in the main gallery from January 10th through February 14th. Artists include Darla Baack, Susan Burnes, Dianne Jean Erickson, Frieda Golding, Janet E. Higgins, Kris Hoppe, Nancy Jo Mullen, Nancy Pagani, and Alice Stambaugh. Among the works exhibited will be encaustics, sculptures, mixed media pieces, and works in fiber. Having exhibited throughout the northwest, each of these artists is accomplished in the visual arts. Their work demonstrates a beauty, liveliness, and elegance in contemporary art. The theme of this exhibit is the subject of background/foreground and positive/negative, in life as well as art. For contact information and web links, please visit our listing at the Southern Oregon Artists Resource  “Threads to New Worlds—A Collection of Fiber Arts” will be opening on Friday, May 3rd at Art Presence in Jacksonville. This juried show features 30 pieces of fiber art created by 24 artists from Oregon. Art Presence is located at 206 North Fifth Street in Jacksonville. The hours for this show are 11:00am until 5:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in May, as well as on Memorial Day. An opening reception will be held on Friday May 10th with hors’doeurves and drinks at the gallery from 5pm-7pm.
