Owls by Eva Thiemann at Creekside Pizza in Ashland

I am having oil paintings of Great Grey Owl, Snowy Owl and Great Horned owls and bears at the Creekside Pizza which is part of Ashland Gallery Association. Exhibit from January till beginning of March 2018

Artist Eva Thiemann shows her oil paintings of Great Grey Owls, Snowy Owls and Great Horned Owls at Creekside Pizza, an Ashland Gallery Association member. Also on display are her wonderful paintings of bears. Eva’s style is unique and vibrant, born of years of watching bears in Alaska, with her subjects realistically rendered, but with the addition of beautiful colors, and semi-abstract backgrounds of snowy mountain ranges. Her exhibit of paintings is available for viewing from January through the beginning of March 2018.

March 2017 at Art du Jour Gallery

Doug Wallace’s Eclectic Art, Connie Fribance’s Oils, and “Discovering Southern Oregon” Contest Art on Display!

During March 2017 at Art du Jour Gallery, we continue our presentation of guest artist Doug Wallace’s eclectic realm of Byzantine queens and mythical maidens. “Looking back down the tunnel of time,” Doug says, “scrolling through the historical archives of what has interested me artistically for most of my life, I always find a bit of the fantastic in all that I do…and nothing is ever completely realistic.”

His art eludes conventional description. “The inspirational references for my paintings are many: Gothic, Pre-Raphaelite, Byzantine, religious icons, mythology, fairytales, book illustrators, and dreams. Surrealism has also played a part in my creative thinking.” He says, however, that if he were forced to categorize his paintings, he might call them “Eclectic Romanticism, or Theatrical Gothic.”

Untitled acrylic painting by Elaine Witteveen

The Rogue Gallery honors longtime Rogue Valley artist Elaine A. Witteveen in an exhibit of her paintings in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Elaine celebrates the joyous beauty and mystery of life in rich, abstract paintings.

Approximately 40 paintings Elaine Witteveen has produced in the last twenty years will be displayed. A few of the paintings depict the landscape of Jacksonville but the majority of the work is Elaine’s more recent renditions of abstract art. Using acrylic and watercolor paint along with collage, pencil, and pastels, the works are drawn, painted, splattered, scraped, carefully torn, and layered to create interesting textures and depth. Many of the paintings are whimsical and playful with celebratory
