The 8th Empty Bowls event in Grants Pass, Oregon will again be held at Parkway Christian Center located at 229 NE Beacon Drive in Grants Pass on Monday, October 13th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests choose a handcrafted bowl and are then served a simple meal of soup and bread. The handmade bowl is yours to keep as a reminder of hunger in our community. Options is collaborating with the Josephine County Food Bank and the Gospel Rescue Mission to host the annual Empty Bowls event. The three agencies see a great need to provide food and access to food for an increasing number of people in our community, especially children and their families. Josephine County is one of the five most food insecure counties in all of Oregon. On July 25th “Birds, Beasts and Beauty-the Genesis to Revelation Alliance with Animals” fine art traveling exhibit opens at Pioneer Hall at Lithia Park in Ashland. This 45 piece exhibit will transform Pioneer Hall into a fine art gallery where the works of 15 contemporary artists from across the U.S. combine efforts with historic masters for an intriguing fine art journey with the animals throughout the Biblical narratives. About the author:  “Bits and Pieces of Summer” is a collection of works by the artists of Art du Jour to celebrate summer. They will be displayed on the Feature Wall of Art du Jour through the month of June. The new exhibit in The Salon, “It’s a Jungle Out There”, will showcase guest artist Sandy Cathcart’s impressionist lions. She has shown her work throughout the Rogue Valley and is noted for her vibrant use of color, her lions for their expressive faces. Also included are animal paintings by Margo Garnett, Gayle Gray, Georganna Happel, Ruth Heath, Judy Hubler, Susie Lee, Barrie Smeeth and Dick Woods; Yvonne Kitchen will display ceramics and paintings. Individual displays by more than twenty artists can be seen at Art du Jour, 213 E. Main St. from 11 a.m.to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The annual Taste of Summer celebrates the beginning of the Britt season and summer in Jacksonville. The day is a street fair setting, including live music in four locations, a wine walk, street performers, children’s activities, classic cars and more. Artists: We are looking for sketch, caricature artists, or any other artists who could demonstrate in an outdoor location. Artists are welcome to charge customers for a sketch.
