“Hot Palette” and August Events at Grants Pass Museum of Art

Hot Palette art exhibit of encausti cpaintings by Dianne Jean Erickson at GRants Pass Museum of Art, Grants Pass, Oregon

Hot Palette: Dianne Jean Erickson August 4th – September 15th, 2017

Dianne Jean Erickson is a painter, printmaker and encaustic artist producing works of art both personal and universal in their nature.

“Each day working in my studio I start not knowing what image will emerge. I allow myself the freedom of indecisions, improvisations, and impulsiveness in my work, and that leads to exciting discoveries. Subjects of my encaustic (hot wax) work are non-objective and figurative painting and printmaking.”

The exhibition highlights her encaustic paintings and encaustic monotypes. Her artwork is of a figurative and portraiture nature, with a whimsical series exploring head gear.

This exhibition is sponsored by Wealth Management Group of Oregon.

First Friday Live: August 4th and September 1st, from 5 – 9 pm

Admission is free.

Grants Pass Museum of Art’s Hours are 10 am – 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday

That Time In Between

Mandala with Blessing Sticks from Art Unraveled… These are the days between midsummer and late summer. Here in my perch above the Klamath River the flowers are reaching as tall as they can before they go to seed. I am nestling in the way I always do after I travel… especially when I teach. I have been to Colorado where I taught with my dear friend Leslie Marsh in the vacation home of my other…

Summer days, mornings filled with wonder. Sleepy afternoons, daydreams with wings and stars that smile. I awake each day to find my art, to hold on to it and then let it go. To find myself, and then relax into being who I am. This is what I am learning.

A Case of Curiosities in Taos, New Mexico

A few days ago I returned from an amazing retreat that I taught with Seth Apter from The Altered Page. I’m still basking in the glow of Taos and the Mabel Dodge Luhan House where our retreat was held. From the first moment we arrived there was magic. We all noticed it, Seth and I, our students, and even the staff. They said that we brought an alchemy to the house. We were enchanted. I…

Winter Days, Moonlit Nights

These days are cold and white… A perfect time for working in my studio and window watching. In the winter we have more birds than ever visit our feeders, the jays and song birds, the quail and woodpeckers. Small and large birds all together in the maple tree out front with the frozen river and snowy fields beyond. And seeds hang on to their branches… their time to fly is not here yet. And on…
