Revolution II, by Kj Cumberbatch
The Southern Oregon Artists Resource is excited to introduce artist Kj Cumberbatch of Medford to the Visual Artists directory!
Kj Cumberbatch
Born in 1975, Kj Cumberbatch has been painting for over 25 years, selling many paintings and commissions in the process. However, Cumberbatch’s current exhibition of large acrylic paintings at GoodBean Coffee in Jacksonville is the first public display of his art. Subjects in his current works center around animals and the natural world. Each painting is very impressive both in style and size…the smallest is 36″ x 36″. While we love them all, our favorite is the (roughly) 79″ x 46″ [R]evolution II, painted in 2016-2017. These large-format works are perfect for hanging in large spaces, whether a home, business or nonprofit, or public space. If you’re in the market for such works, catch his show before it ends on February 28,

About the author: The subject matter that I am interested in is representational. I strive to be thorough and accurate and yet catch what is fleeting and lively. The work I'm most proud of shows life as I see it: fatally flawed, but amazingly beautiful. See Sarah's listing at the Southern Oregon Artists Resource to learn more and make contact.
I went to Paris for the first two weeks of May this year and my trip was entirely focused on studying art. I went to the Louvre six times – not nearly enough. I also visited the Orsay, Musee Bourdelle, Montmartre, saw Velasquez show at the Grand Palais, popped into the Musee Carnavalet and I […]

The Jazz Series of watercolor paintings and drawings came to life following chemotherapy, 9 surgeries, the death of 3 loved ones within a 2 month period, and the end of a four year relationship due to the resulting depression. Although Jeannie holds 2 BS degrees, an MS and MDE, “Education and intelligence is, unfortunately, not a talisman against grief and despair.”

About the author: I begin my watercolor paintings with an idea and a drawing. I build the painting layer by layer, drawing lines and shapes, looking for rhythm and feeling. My color sense is a reflection of my childhood in New Mexico fused with colors of my home in the Northwest. My goal is to go beyond the surface to find joy, wonder and a bit of mystery. I have shown my works in galleries, juried, group and solo shows in Washington, Oregon, Montana and New Mexico. My paintings are in private collections in the west, New York and Norway.

I continue to work on my “Just Sayin’…” series. When working from memory and imagination, I’m never certain what the results will be. I start with an idea and go to work. I push, pull, smudge, lift, re-draw…sigh, put it away, and bring it out to draw some more. Eventually the image emerges. […]
