Southern Oregon photography artists Lewis Anderson and Darcie Sternenberg both create dreamlike landscape images. Anderson’s Asian inspired pieces are large multi-paneled images while Sternenberg’s smaller, intimate pieces are in black and white. The Stage as Muse: The Art of the Rogue Gallery Staff

The stage is the inspiration for this Rogue Gallery staff exhibit. The artists approached the theme using the historical works of Shakespeare, classical music, modern dramatic plays, and the experience of attending the theater. Rogue Gallery’s staff includes Rachel Barrett (Office Administrator, Database Technician & Graphic Artist) Ashley Clasby (Education & Events Manager) Kim Hearon (Executive Director) & Anna Hinkle (Program Assistant).

Julia Janeway,WESTCLIFFE SANTO, ceramic Reception: Friday, July 20, 5:00-8:00 pm Ashland artist, Julia Janeway explores the meaning of “sanctuary” in her new ceramic works. She creates ceramic “retablos” which traditionally are paintings of saints. In her artistic interpretation, the saints are depicted as owls, birds, and other animals. Her inspiration for this exhibit from the time she spent living in Taos, New Mexico where retablos commonly adorn homes and churches. Julia Janeway is known for her colorful and whimsical ceramic art pieces that depict animals, geometric shapes, and botanically images. Last day to see Heat Wave IN THE MAIN GALLERY

Ginny Matheson presents’’a body of work themed “Mixed Media Landscapes”. Ginny lives and works in Southern Oregon but her earliest art training was in Michigan where she worked primarily in stone and wood carving. After moving to Indiana, Ginny began to focus on two-dimensional media and took more training in drawing, painting, and collage. By 2004 she had begun to exhibit her work at art festivals across the Midwest. Upon arrival in Oregon soon thereafter she began exhibiting at art festivals, galleries, and restaurants across Oregon. Her work often focuses on the breathtaking scenery of the Pacific Northwest and also includes still life, abstracts and figurative pieces. Guest Artist Judy Benson LaNier

Art du Jour June 2018 Featured Artists

A professional photographer who specializes in photographing Wildlife, Judy Benson LaNier

During the month of June, Judy Benson LeNier’s work will be featured in the Salon and Mary Jo Heath will be the featured artist on the back wall at Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main in Medford. Music on Third Friday will be provided by Minstrel Stream.

A professional photographer who specializes in photographing Wildlife, Judy Benson LaNier’s love of Africa began in 1961 when her family hosted Ashland, Oregon’s first Rotary-sponsored exchange student who was from South Africa. The bond forged then has continued through the years as the two families visit each other in Africa and the U.S.A. The magnetism of Africa is strong and Judy has returned there eight times. Her range of photography has expanded to include North American and Hawaiian Flora and Fauna as well as landscapes.
