Digital Deconstruction: Bruce Bayard June 26 – August 7, 2015 Reception: Friday, June 26, 5:00-8:00pm
New works by local artist Bruce Bayard include digitally altered wide format landscape photographs, and stills of video clips which are layered and composed using a random algorithm process to choose image, layer order, and transparency. Samples of the videos used for this process will also be on view during the exhibit.
Bruce Bayard is an established Northwest artist who has shown throughout the west coast. Working as a digital artist, he uses multiple layers of photography, creating images that are mysterious and profoundly beautiful. The complex layering technique invites the viewer to continue to look at the work and discover new shapes, colors, and textures. Bruce describes his process, “My current pursuits in image-making involve reduction and augmentation. To accomplish the former, I spend more time looking at things that attract me visually,

Butterfly Away, watercolor by Deanna St Martin
Art du Jour is pleased to announce our new member Deanna St. Martin who will be the featured artist in the main gallery for the month of March. Her vibrant, spontaneous paintings start out simply as she uses Halloween cobwebs to create the texture for the under paintings. She then sprays on liquid watercolors and manipulates the paint, moving it, brushing it and continuing to amend the painting. She uses watercolors, ephemeral, watercolor pencils, acrylics, watercolor paper and Yopo. St. Martin says, “The slickness of the Yupo combined with the viscosity of the paint interact perfectly to create chaos and out of chaos comes harmony of design.” Her inspiration comes from nature and things that she sees every day.
