TOUCH, A Virtual Exhibition Juror/Curator: Gina Lee Robbins June 5–30, 2020 Facebook Live Opening: Saturday, June 13 | 2–3 p.m. CHICAGO –– Inspired by the current pandemic, this exhibition looks at something that many of us have had to completely do without: TOUCH. Most of the world is under order to shelter in place, practice social distancing, stay 6 feet away from each other. This is particularly punishing given that the tactile is such an integral part of the way we develop human relationships. In fact, our use of the word “touch” in English has long referred to how we stay connected–even from a distance. In curating the 430 entries, Gina Lee Robbins looked for very specific personal responses to the theme. She began to see touch as its own complex language. Truth as a Contested Concept Exhibition Dates: November 1 – 23, 2019 Final Entry Due Date: August 30, 2019 Juror: Indira Freitas Johnson CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT WORK. https://womanmadegallery.submittable.com/submit Exhibition Description: “Truth as a Contested Concept” is open to all artists whose work addresses the theme. We used to think of truth as being absolute. That our choices were binary. But today truth is a contested concept. Does this mean that truth for one person may not necessarily be the same for everyone? If this is the case, can anyone really know “the truth”? The juror is interested in creating a dialog around what we consider truth to be.
