The Children’s Healing Art Project is based in Portland but also operates healing art projects for children with life-threatening and terminal conditions in southern Oregon. The sixth Empty Bowls event in Grants Pass, Oregon will again be held at Parkway Christian Center located at 229 NE Beacon Drive in Grants Pass on Monday, October 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests choose a handcrafted bowl and are then served a simple meal of soup and bread in a handmade bowl they select and keep as a reminder of hunger in our community. Donation of Authentic Joy benefits Children’s Advocacy Center of Jackson County
Janet London’s donation of her print, “Authentic Joy,” was a wonderful addition to the program presented by Joyfull Yoga. Janet was unable to attend, so I represented her there. After enjoying very informative talks about healthy living by Dr. Robin Miller and Louise LaVergne, yummy hors d’oeuvres made from donations by Gary West Meats and Ray’s Market, wine tasting from Cowhorn Vineyards, the only biodynamic vineyard in Southern Oregon, a fashion show of organic clothing from Pico’s of Jacksonville, and a short break in the program, I stood up to introduce Janet’s work.
I was deeply moved – yes, to barely hidden tears – by the executive director’s opening speech introducing the Center and its mission, and as I prepared to speak to the audience about Janet’s contribution, I realized how many connections, some going back several years,
