Art du Gallery June 2021 Exhibits

art du jour logo

SOAR member Art du Jour Gallery in June 2021 hosts the annual Charity Hubbard Student Show. Charity Hubbard has been a professional and fine artist for over 20 years, and teaches small classes that take a classical approach to art. In the month of June, several of her student’s works will be displayed and for sale in the Main Gallery and the Featured Artist areas. Charity Hubbard’s own works will be featured in the Salon from June 1 until July 31st.

Times will be set up for our 3rd Friday visitors so we do not have too many guests in the gallery at one time. This will help our past overcrowding issues with the families of the students.

Art du Jour Gallery’s board of directors have voted to continue with plans to hold a scaled down version of our Third Friday reception on July 17, 5 to 8 pm. With more stringent social distancing regulations being in order, we will require that all visitors wear a protective face covering to enter the gallery. As a courtesy we will provide a mask at the door if someone without would like to enter and view our exhibits. For the time being we will not be offering any musical entertainment, but will have some seating set up in front of the gallery to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Medford’s Art du Jour Gallery will offer to give a mask to anyone coming into the gallery expressing a desire to remain and view our artwork. We have also decided to hold-over a portion of

June 2019 Third Friday

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford eagerly anticipates a return of Charity Hubbard’s student art exhibit for our Third Friday reception on June 21st, 5-8 pm. Despite an earlier announcement that our musical entertainment would be held back for this months’ event, due to popular demand we have scheduled classical guitarist Rod Petrone to perform for the evening.

Frequently painting from life on location “en plein air” and people from life is important to Charity Hubbard. She feels that the regular exercise of painting from life enables her to better capture life, light and a truer sense of atmosphere, even when painting from life is not possible.

Art du Jour student art show entry…

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford eagerly anticipates a return of Charity Hubbard’s student art exhibit in June, which became a major downtown event for our small gallery last year. Due to the popular nature of this exhibit we will hold back from providing musical entertainment for our June Third Friday celebration, primarily for space and noise considerations.

The “People’s Choice” photography contest has gone off as planned and a big thanks to all who stopped by our gallery during Art in Bloom to vote on their favorite artwork. The exhibit remains on display and the results will be announced at the end of May and posted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ArtduJourGallery).

Community Gallery Exhibit Capturing Life: Oil Paintings by Charity Hubbard

October 21–November 18, 2016

Reception Date: October 21, 5:00-8:00 pm

Seattle Public Market, by Charity Hubbard

Charity Hubbard’s fine art oil paintings of people, landscapes and architecture capture life as it happens, blending traditional painting techniques with a feeling of spontaneity.

Using a palette of warm rich colors and loose brushstrokes, Hubbard creates luminescent paintings reminiscent of the painters from the Romantic era. Charity Hubbard completed a one year program at Pacific College of Art and studied for two years with nationally renowned artist Semyon Bilmes. She has received numerous awards and is a member of the Upper Rogue Artists’ Society. She is inspired by the masters including John Singer Sargent, Alma Tadema, Maxfield Parish, and Monet and also by current artists such as Clark Hulings, Jim Wodark, Richard Schmid, and Michael

Southern Oregon Society of Artists Annual Award Banquet

Prize winning artists June Shepherd, Dorothy Swain, Tom Austin and Charity Hubbard with judge Steven LaRose

Not getting away from my computer as much as I should, it was my great pleasure to step out and attend the annual awards banquet of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists on Saturday. This is the first time they held their year-end event at the Rogue Valley Country Club; around a hundred artists and their guests were seated at tables in the Country Club’s ball room where we enjoyed a beautiful luncheon with wine while waiting with bated breath for the Painting of the Year awards to be announced.
