Fourth Friday Films, Alpaca Picnic and Call to Artists from Rogue Gallery

THIS FRIDAY, MAY 25 FOURTH FRIDAY FILMS Friday, May 25, 7:00 pm Local artists turned film-makers Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells present the fifth installment of their Fourth Friday Films series. This Friday’s airing will highlight 3 short films by Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells. Greeley Wells’ piece is entitled “Be Deep Into Presence” with the music of Jeff Pevar as the soundtrack.

This is the second to last of this series. The last film will be on June 22nd. Fourth Friday Films will take a break for the summer and return in October.

Films will be shown in the Rogue Studio. Attendance is free.

Free! FOURTH FRIDAY FILMS March 23, 2018 7:00 p.m. Local artists turned film-makers Bruce Bayard, Larry Lewis and Greeley Wells present the third installment of their Fourth Friday Films series. CELTIC CELEBRATION CONTEST WINNERS Another Sell-Out Crowd has a fabulous time! It was a wonderful night, abley MC’ed by volunteer Tom Hearon and graced by the songs of the Blarney Tones and a spirited Irish band, the Roaring Rogues.

From an incredibly talented group of singers, Jena Harris won the “Danny Boy” singing contest as judged by the enthusiastic audience.

Artists of the Rogue Valley Then and Now - Saturday 10am

Dorland Robinson, Rogue Valley artist, from the collection of the Southern Oregon Historical Society, and discussed in their next installment of the Tales from the Collection Series: Artists of the Rogue Valley

The Rogue Valley has a long history showcasing local artistic talent. SOHS has the paintings that Britt created from photographs, Dorland Robinson’s moody, subtle works, and artifacts from Eugene Bennett’s studio. Dawna Curler, SOHS Archivist Pat Harper and local artists Bruce Bayard and Ann DiSalvo will talk about art created in the 1800s through the 2000s at the next Tales from the Collection event and also explain how the Rogue Galley has played such an important role in the region. Free and open to all who love history.

Digital Deconstruction: Bruce Bayard June 26 – August 7, 2015 Reception: Friday, June 26, 5:00-8:00pm

New works by local artist Bruce Bayard include digitally altered wide format landscape photographs, and stills of video clips which are layered and composed using a random algorithm process to choose image, layer order, and transparency. Samples of the videos used for this process will also be on view during the exhibit.

 

Bruce Bayard is an established Northwest artist who has shown throughout the west coast. Working as a digital artist, he uses multiple layers of photography, creating images that are mysterious and profoundly beautiful. The complex layering technique invites the viewer to continue to look at the work and discover new shapes, colors, and textures. Bruce describes his process, “My current pursuits in image-making involve reduction and augmentation. To accomplish the former, I spend more time looking at things that attract me visually,

Eugene Bennett and Friends: His Personal Art Collection May 9 – July 3, 2014, Reception: Friday, May 16, 5-8pm

 

The Rogue Gallery presents works from the private collection of Eugene Bennett including paintings, drawings, sculptures, assemblages, prints, and ceramics. The exhibit features the work of nationally and regionally known artists collected by Eugene Bennett as well as favorites of his own work. All works will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of artwork will go to the Rogue Gallery Endowment and the Oregon Community Foundation.

 

Spanning six decades of Mr. Bennett’s own work, and artwork he collected, the exhibit contains a wide variety of styles including Modernists, abstract, and traditional. “It is fascinating to see the evolution of Eugene Bennett’s work throughout his life”, says Executive Director Kim Hearon. “His personal collection of other artists represents some of the best work by many of the region’s
