Grant award timeline update OSG, ALG awards to be announced in September
Due to the new biennium budget process, the announcement of grant awards for the Operating Support and Arts Learning programs is delayed until September. The Arts Commission is awaiting a final approved budget from the Legislative Fiscal Office and the Business Oregon fiscal office, as well as action by the Arts Commission board, so that grant awards can be finalized and distributed. Final approval of grant awards is expected at the Arts Commission board meeting in early September. Official notification of application status and funding awards will happen after

Art du Jour Gallery, 213 E. Main Street in Medford is featuring the work of Winnifred Liang for August, while Sheri Dinardi will be our guest artist in the Salon through September. Musical entertainment for Third Friday on August 16 is yet to be determined and will be announced at a later date on Facebook (www.facebook.com/ArtduJourGallery).

Winnifred Liang’s art exemplifies her diversity. Born in Malaysia of Chinese ancestry, she lived and was educated in Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the US. Winnifred studied classical piano in all three locations, and earned undergraduate degrees in oil painting, drawing, art history, and business administration.

Free Association gallery has on display a fantastic exhibition entitled “Eye Opener” — a wonderful collection of “blind-ish” art by artist Silhouette of Ashland. Silhouette lost most of her sight due to an automimmune condition, but she hasn’t let that stop her from creating. At first sight, her art is amazing. When considering her limited eyesight, it’s an eye-opener, for sure!
