The Southern Oregon Society of Artists will be hosting it’s regular meeting on August 27, 2018 at 7 pm at the Medford Public Library. Our Speaker is illustrator Judith Karen, known locally as Judy Grillo. Judy is the ‘Artist-in Charge” of the 180 foot-long BEE MURAL at Exit-24/ Phoenix, off the I-5. Judy has Illustrated 13 children’ books, created over 1,000 fliers, posters, program covers & signs. Her street signs for the Rist Canyon Fire Dept are 18 years old, and her art for the Eugene Symphony Guild Annual Garden Tours brochure has been in use since 2009. Judith Karen (Judy Grillo) has painted and designed theatre sets and signs, 15 murals, 11 in the L.A. Basin both indoor and out and 1 in Las Vegas (Vegas paid better). Detail of “Neptune, The Mystic, Gustav Holst, The Planets” by Kim Hearon New Exhibit in the Berryman Gallery FRIDAY, August 3 IN THE BERRYMAN GALLERY The Stage as Muse: The Art of the Rogue Gallery Staff August 3 – September 11, 2018 “Share a Coke with . . .” by Ashley Clasby The stage is the inspiration for this Rogue Gallery staff exhibit. The artists approached the theme using the historical works of Shakespeare, classical music, modern dramatic plays, and the experience of attending the theater. Rogue Gallery’s staff includes Rachel Barrett (Office Administrator, Database Technician & Graphic Artist) Ashley Clasby (Education & Events Manager) Kim Hearon (Executive Director) & Anna Hinkle (Program Assistant). The Berryman Gallery is located upstairs at the Crateria Theater and can be accessed before performances or during Craterian office hours. About the author:  Art du Jour AUGUST 2018 During the months of August Doug Iverson’s brilliant work will be in the Salon for both August and September, and Roy Musitelli will be filling in on the featured artist wall at Art du Jour Gallery. The Art du Jour members would like to invite you to our Third Friday Art Walk and Reception on August 17, an informal evening featuring art, snacks and an opportunity to meet the artists. Musical entertainment will be provided by guitarist Rod Petrone. Guest Artist Doug Iverson Doug Iverson has always enjoyed ‘good’ art. Since retiring at the end of 2009, he has been devoted to becoming the ‘best’ artist he can be. He took many basic art classes at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass.
