Pacifica’s 13th Winter Arts Festival is Saturday, December 1 from 10 am to 4:00 pm, with 20 juried artists in a lively, dynamic setting with live music, food and wine in the Great Room of the Steve Miller barn. The Au Naturel competition is open to all artists working in any two dimensional drawing, painting, and printmaking media with a focus on the nude human figure as subject matter in any form from representational to abstract, and in which the handmade mark is employed as the primary means of image-making. Serving as juror for the 2013 exhibit is Clint Brown. Mr. Brown is Professor Emeritus at Oregon State University, where he taught sculpture, painting, and drawing, with a primary focus and passion for figure drawing. He is an artist who has consistently used the human figure as a means of commenting on the human condition.

Muralist Cathy Gallatin announces a Call to Artists for a first annual Chalk Art Festival to take place in Medford this June! The “Takin it to the Street Chalk Art & Music Festival” will be held in downtown Medford on Bartlett St. between Main & 8th Streets on June 23rd & 24th. The theme for 2012 is “People ‘Round the World.”

As always, there are some short deadlines, but they’re good shows that you should check out – they could be worth the rush to enter! IN addition, lots of longer deadlines that give you some time to prepare. We’ve weeded out the ones that Southern Oregon artists would not be eligible for, but many will find that out of state, or even artist friends in other countries, will be able to respond to many of the calls in this list.
