IN THE MAIN GALLERY 2017 ARTIST TEEN MENTORING PROJECT April 14– April 28, 2017 Reception: Friday, April 21, 5–8pm This exhibition is a culmination of Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s annual Artist Teen Mentoring Project that pairs professional artists with Rogue Valley high school students for intensive study and interaction. On display is the creative work of both teens and mentoring artists, which includes painting in acrylic and oil, assemblage, printmaking, pen and ink, charcoal, and sculpture. Through the program, the students learn new techniques to use in their work, how to present their work in an exhibit, and gain insight to the life of a professional artist. The Artist Teen Mentoring Project 2016 Exhibit is a culmination of Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s annual Artist Teen Mentoring Project that pairs professional artists with Rogue Valley high school students for intensive study and interaction. On display April 1–15 is the creative work of both teens and mentoring artists, which includes photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and comic art. On display is the creative work of both teens and mentoring artists. This program pairs professional Rogue Valley artists with local high school students for intensive study and interaction. Through the program, the students learn new techniques to use in their work, how to present their work in an exhibit, and gain insight to the life of a professional artist. On display are a variety of materials and styles including painting, printmaking, photography, comic art, and sculpture. The Community Gallery is filled with over 100, colorful, mixed-media “Chromarrific” paintings created by three fifth grade classes from Jackson and Kennedy Elementary Schools as part of the Rogue Gallery & Art Center’s Elementary Arts Outreach program. Opening during Medford’s Third Friday on April 19th, and on display from April 19th through May 3rd is the Artist Teen Mentoring Project exhibit which will feature a variety of inspirational art by teens and their professional artist mentors. ATMP 2013 Artist Teen Mentoring Project at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center The Artist Teen Mentoring Project, or ATMP, offers local teens a once in a lifetime experience to enjoy a hands-on, realistic look at the life of a professional artist. These aspiring young artists have the opportunity to be mentored by established artists. This unique relationship offers 20-30 hours of studio time to create work while receiving instruction in a new medium, culminating with an exhibition of the art they have created in our Main Gallery. In the past, artist mentors have taught teens techniques in these mediums: Sequential Art (Comic Illustration) Photography Drawing Painting Sewing/ Fashion Design Mixed- Media Mural Painting/ Public Art Printmaking Sculpture And More!
