An Afternoon with Richard McKinley

Art du Jour Gallery presents “An Afternoon with Richard McKinley,” nationally and internationally renowned artist/educator, on Saturday, February 28. Born and raised in the Rogue Valley, McKinley is known for his beautiful paintings in oil and pastel, and for the vast amount of artistic knowledge he shares with his students worldwide.

Richard will offer a presentation on his career in contemporary art, including highlights from his forthcoming book on oil painting, as well as from his best selling PASTEL POINTERS. The afternoon begins at 1:30 PM in the Medford Library ( Adams Room ) with a Power point presentation and a lively question and answer session.

A reception and opportunity to meet the artist follows at 3:30 PM in Art du Jour

Gallery, located at 213 E. Main Street in Medford (2 blocks north of the library).

Art Inspires Ashland!

On November 9th and 10th in Ashland, Oregon an event will take place that may change the face of Ashland’s highly-acclaimed art scene. Art Inspires Ashland will bring together some of the world’s most creative minds from various schools of artistic expression for a weekend of presentations, discussions and workshops. This event has been designed to inspire people from all walks of life. In the highlight of the weekend, featured artists will talk about their skills, inspirations, and accomplishments in 30-minute Inspirational Presentations held at the Historic Ashland Armory on Saturday, November 10th. Prior to the presentations, there will be a catered Gala where the community can meet the artists. These same artists will lead workshops during the day on Saturday, aimed at inspiring regional art students and adult artists to reach beyond anything they dreamed of creating.

TONIGHT!! Reception for RGAC's Bob Bosworth Retrospective Exhibit, 5-7pm

This exhibition spotlights the creativity of Bob Bosworth—artist, architect, former University of Oregon professor, and a founder of the Rogue Gallery & Art Center. Curated by Nancy Jo Mullen, the display features architectural drawings and paintings from Bosworth’s early professional years as well as a series of recently created paintings on paper. This show sheds light on the dynamic career of a highly inventive Rogue Valley artist and architect. RECEPTION: This FRIDAY, Oct. 19, 5:00–7:00PM; at 7:00PM, “An Architect’s Architect” Illustrated talk that surveys the local architecture projects by Bosworth presented by architect John David Duffié. Free to the public.

Dan Welden: A Day of SolarPlate Printmaking

Saturday October 9th 10 am to 2pm

10 am –Noon Process Demonstration

12:30—2pm Artist Talk with Q & A

Solarplates can be used to both make photographic images or worked upon in a more direct method by drawing and painting.This is an exciting interactive learning opportunity open to everyone; printmakers, photographers, painters, teachers and everyone interested in a unique kind of creativity.

10 am -Noon PROCESS DEMONSTRATION will be a technical session, during which the artist will create an image and process both an etching and a relief plate with sunlight and water, after which it will be printed.

12:30-2pm ARTIST TALK will be a Question and Answer interactive ‘show and tell’ where the artist will have examples of his art as well as a number of other artists using the
