Southern Oregon Society of Artists Members Critique Odessa Lake, Pastel by Steve Bennett Autumn Treasure, Pastel by Steve Bennett Tulips Aglow, Pastel by Steve Bennett Steve Bennett, well-known artist from Jacksonville will be the critique juror for Southern Oregon Society of Artists (SOSA) on Monday, April 27. Steve, who has studied with many of the finest instructors in the United States, has been painting for nearly 30 years. Having worked in most media, he now chooses the immediacy of pastel, saying, “The pigment is right here in my hand.” His strong designs and colors add to the excitement of each piece. He will look for good composition created by the use of the basic Elements of Design to convey each artist initial concept. Art will be accepted from 6:15 to 6:45 from paid members. Guests are welcome to attend. Main Gallery Exhibit: Rogue Valley Biennial February 20 – April 10, 2015, Reception: Friday, February 20, 5-8pm The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is proud to host the 2015 Rogue Valley Biennial. The Rogue Valley Biennial Art Exhibit is held at different locations in the Southern Oregon every other year. The exhibit celebrates the talents of Southern Oregon artist as they expand their vision in their work. Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings, photography, pastels, and sculpture are among the media exhibited. Biennial exhibits are most commonly used within the art world to describe exhibits that occur every other year. The first exhibit in 1895 was held in Venice, Italy and is still considered the most important. Biennial exhibits are now held throughout the world, most often celebrating contemporary art.
