7th annual Angels Show 2019 Coming Soon!

Southern Oregon Artists Resource and Art Presence Art Center announce the 7th Annual Angels Show coming soon!

Originally the brainchild of Mary Kell, co-owner of the GoodBean Coffee Company, and curated by Hannah West, founder of Southern Oregon Artists Resource, the Angels show has become a beloved part of the Victorian Christmas celebration in Jacksonville, Oregon. Some have even said it’s become their FAVORITE part of Christmas in Jacksonville! The first-ever exhibition of angel art in southern Oregon got its start at the GoodBean Cafe and was displayed there for 5 consecutive years.

Things change, and we have to change with them. The GoodBean’s management decided to fall back to a permanent installation of historical photos, augmented with seasonally updated mural-size photography by David Gibb. That left no room for the angels, so we had to find them a new home. Fortunately, Art Presence Art Center was in the process

Here are the changes to several important dates:

Submission Deadline is now November 18th. Artwork drop-off dates are now November 23, 24 and 25th. We will hang the show on Thursday, December 5th. The show opens on Friday, December 6th. Reception is now Saturday, December 7th, from 1–3 pm. Closing date is still Sunday, December 29th.

We thank the artists who have already submitted their entries and apologize for the sudden change. “Angel on High,” by Katherine Bird, from

Poetry, Plaisance, and a Present for You!

anna elkins holiday love to enjoy

This week, we officially celebrate gratitude—though we unofficially celebrate it year-round, of course! So another big Thank You to all who helped me get to Vermont Studio Center in October. It was a dream come true—with the bonus of crimson-and-gold foliage and many new friends. I spent entire days in what I call Poetry Land, looking up from the page or screen to watch the Gihon River run past outside my studio window. It was a bit of heaven on earth. In addition to mostly finishing my poetry manuscript, I created and posted little bits of micropoetry and watercolors each day to share the journey. When I gathered those daily lines together, I was happy to see that they had shaped a single poem that celebrates beauty and community. You can find it here along with a few of the paintings. Praying Angel Painting

A link to your site, with your site’s name as anchor text.

I created a praying angel painting for the GoodBean’s Angels show, and now that I have a new blog, I wanted tomake it the subject of my first post! I thought I would take an approach that’s a little different from the art I normally create. This angel is 11″ x 14″, a watercolor and ink collage. She has already attracted many lovely compliments, and will be on display with the angels of other southern Oregon artists at GoodBean Coffee in Jacksonville, Oregon until the afternoon of December 31, 2015.

A Warm Welcome to Artist Karen O’Brien!

Attraction, painting by Karen O'Brien

The Southern Oregon Artists Resource extends a warm welcome to artist Karen O’Brien of Grants Pass, who can now be found in the Visual Artists directory and the Art Education section of We met Karen last December, when she entered two of her fabulous “Urban Folk” angels in the second annual Angels show at the GoodBean Café in Jacksonville. It was hard to give them back to her after the show! Please help us welcome this talented artist by visiting her listing to find a link to her website, social media sites, and bookmark her Etsy shop in progress.
