On Sunday, October 7th, the fun and whimsical work of local and regional artists will be featured at the Third annual furnArture event, a benefit auction which supports the Studio at Living Opportunities. Enjoy a lovely afternoon of art, hors d’oeuvres, wine, and live music. This signature event turns the ”ordinary into the extraordinary” by transforming recycled furniture and treasures into functional pieces that double as beautiful objects of art.
Included will be a wide selection of artwork created by artists of the Studio at Living Opportunities. Pieces will be on display for you to preview at Terra Firma Home in downtown Medford, beginning the week of September 24th.
furnARTure will feature creations by over 20 of the region’s top artists including: Mieke Ryneal, Noo Cook, Andy Atalla, Pegi Smith, Holly Herrick, Dan Mish, Cathy Dorris, and Susan Kramer-Pope. Among them is up and coming young artist Gabriel Mark Lipper, who is contributing a special piece for the live auction. Lipper, who works out of his studio in Talent, has shown in galleries in Portland, Nashville, and Santa Barbara.
The Studio’s mission is unique in our community in its strong emphasis on inclusion and integration. Particularly, this event allows artists and community members to support each other and the arts. Proceeds from this event will provide workshops, instruction, and events to promote independence, individuality, creativity, and an income for artists with a wide range of disabilities. Through this incredible program, the Studio’s artists discover that art is not simply about refining techniques, but the magic of expression.
Please add your support to this wonderful program that in turn benefits some of the most vulnerable in our community!
